Psychedelic Horseshit

Unlike the Shitty Beatles, Psychedelic Horseshit is just a clever name. (Those unfamiliar with Wayne’s World, note: This means the band doesn’t suck.) The Columbus, Ohio threesome’s brand of shoegazer rock is neither psychedelic nor crappy. For those out of the loop, “shoegazer” is a genre characterized by lo-fi distortion of both instruments and vocals (in other words, there’s a constant buzzing throughout every song) and the tendency of its musicians to stare at the ground while performing. Psychedelic Horseshit stays true to the genre with danceable rock glazed over by dirty guitars, steady beats and usually inaudible lyrics. If you’re still having trouble, think early Dinosaur Jr. or Jesus and Mary Chain, or get educated today when Psychedelic Horseshit plays with fellow Columbus, Ohioans Pink Reason. We promise the only thing shitty about the band is the name. 8 p.m. Sound Exchange, 1846 Richmond. For information, call 713-666-5555 or visit www.soundexchangehouston.com. Free, but throw a donation in the jar for these two touring bands — it is the season of giving, people.
