"Raimund Girke 1930-2002, Investigating White"

It was the late 1950s when German painter Raimund Girke and his contemporaries turned away from abstract expressionism and explored reductive styles and techniques. For the new exhibit "Raimund Girke 1930-2002, Investigating White," Gallery Sonja Roesch has brought together a group of his works that explore white as a color. Using a mostly monochromatic color palette, Girke infuses what many of us see as the absence of color with movement, complexity and structure. There's an opening reception with the late artist's daughter, Madeleine Girke, 5 to 7 p.m., September 10. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays. Through October 29. 2309 Caroline. For information, call 713-659-5424 or visit www.gallerysonjaroesch.com. Free.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Sept. 10. Continues through Oct. 29, 2011
