Houston theater lovers know Philip Lehl from his astonishing work as an actor at both Stages Repertory Theatre and the Alley. Now theyll be thrilled to know hes co-founded a new company called Brave Dog Theatre. Brave dogs are loyal and tenacious and if youre going to do theater in this day and age, you need to be both, says Lehl. With that in mind, Brave Dogs taken on Craig Lucass wild comedy Reckless. According to Lehl, this is a comedy about a woman who thinks she has it all and finds out that she really doesnt. A lot of it takes place at Christmas, where she finds out a lot of good things and a lot of bad things, which is true for many of us.
Lehl doesnt want to give anything away, but the play has a dark side that includes murder plots, psychiatrists and the playwrights own issues having to do with being abandoned by his mother in a car when he was just an infant. Wait, Lehl did say this was a comedy, didnt he? 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Through December 19. Wild Fish Theatre, 1703E Post Oak.
