"Salon des Refusés"
"The Big Show 2010" at the Lawndale Art Center gets bigger and bigger every year; unfortunately that's not the case with the center's gallery space. Trying to squeeze more art into the same size gallery means lots of quality work gets left out. Now there's a place for all those rejected paintings, photographs and sculptures to be seen - the "Salon des Refusés" at Gallery 1724. There's no juror, no prizes and basically only one rule - each work of art must have been rejected by the Lawndale Art Center's "Big Show." There's an opening reception 8 to 10 p.m. on July 9. Regular viewing hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Through August 7. 1724 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-582-1198 or visit www.1724bissonnet.blogspot.com. Free.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: July 9. Continues through Aug. 7, 2010
