Dominic Walsh Dance Theater is bringing its celebrated modern-day version of the medieval tale Sleeping Beauty to Miller Outdoor Theatre. Catapulting Aurora, danced by Houstonian Dawn Dippel, from the stifled, virginal role in the original story to a rebellious teenager, Dominic Walsh transforms the ballet from a traditional fairy tale into a modern coming-of-age story. Instead of cursing Aurora to sleep for a hundred years, Walshs Carabosse takes a different approach to evil by introducing the young teen to the dark world of sex and drugs. Italian Domenico Luciano dances the role of Desire, the prince whose love transforms Auroras life. The combination of Tchaikovskys beautiful score with the mohawk and chains promises to entertain and inspire, leaving the fairies and fantasy of the Brothers Grimm in the dust. 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. 100 Concert Drive.
