Smart Chicks Kick It Tour
Hosted by the Blue Willow Bookshop, seven authors of young adult paranormal fiction will kick it in Houston as part of their Smart Chicks Kick It Tour. The brainchild of Wicked Lovely author Melissa Marr, the tour came together as a way of responding to fans' repeated requests for recommendations of other authors' work. Marr reached out to friend Kelley Armstrong and together they sought out like-minded writers. Now the tour has 12 stops, and Marr told us when she's asked for recommendations now, she can simply say, "These people sitting next to me." The people she s referring to are all women authors of paranormal fiction featuring strong female protagonists, most of whom Marr says were around way before Bella met Edward. The only thing cooler than seven smart chicks is seven smart chicks telling you stories about curse workers, aura-readers, evil faeries, demon slayers, the nephilim (humans with angel blood in their veins, duh) and yes, vampires and werewolves. 7 p.m. The Refuge, 13150 Memorial.
