Southern Summer Comfort Book Tour
Bands aren’t the only ones that can use Kickstarter to cobble together tour funds. Five independent authors used the popular crowd-sourcing site to gather enough money to hit bookstores and bars all over the South during the Southern Summer Comfort Book Tour. Among those appearing is Donora Hillard, author of the provocative Theology of the Body, a book of feminist poems. (One line reads: “After, she thinks of the boy who can say pussy and thank you in one deadly sentence, a pearl of want in her throat.”) Also along for the ride is Elizabeth Ellen, author of The Fast Machine, which contains more than 90 short stories, each cuttingly brutal and utterly fearless in its approach to the modern world. Chloe Caldwell, Mary Miller and Brandi Wells will be in attendance reading from their work as well. 7 p.m. Domy Books, 1709 Westheimer.
Thu., July 12, 7 p.m., 2012
