Stand by Me
The 1986 film Stand by Me is based on Stephen Kings novella The Body, which chronicles the summer quest of four 12-year-old boys (played in the film by Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Jerry OConnell) who find the corpse of a boy their age. Just like mythical heroes, the quartet must overcome a few obstacles bullies, junkyard dogs and, who can forget, the leeches before completing their journey. The film garnered Golden Globe, Academy, Writers Guild and Directors Guild awards and has proven to be a timeless summer classic. 8:30 p.m. Domy, 1709 Westheimer.
