Tami Hoag

Mystery novelist Tami Hoag often finds inspiration for her plots in newspaper headlines. Cases like the Natalee Holloway tragedy sparked a series of “what if” questions for Hoag that eventually became Down the Darkest Road, her latest title. In Darkest Road, a 16-year-old girl was previously kidnapped. Hoag focuses on the family she left behind, especially the girl’s younger sister Leah, now overprotected by her fearful mother, Lauren.

In an effort to start over, Leah and Lauren move to a small town where nobody knows their story. But almost as soon as they get there, Lauren sees the man she holds responsible for her daughter’s disappearance. A free man because of a lack of evidence against him, he’s followed Lauren and Leah to their new home. Is he just taunting Lauren? Or is it Leah he’s after? 6:30 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-524-8597 or visit www.murderbooks.com. Free.
