''Texas Biennial Invitational: Christie Blizard, Marcelyn McNeil, Tom Orr and Brad Tucker''
In case you need a reason to head over to the Museum District, we've got a great one for you: the ''Texas Biennial Invitational: Christie Blizard, Marcelyn McNeil, Tom Orr and Brad Tucker'' exhibit currently at Lawndale Art Center. A sort of ''best of'' showcase for the Lone Star State, the Invitational is the longest-running statewide biennial exhibit of contemporary art in the United States. Lawndale contributors Michael Duncan and Virginia Rutledge curated this year's local component, which features four previous Biennial stars. Blizard presents video and performance-based works, while McNeil adds abstract paintings. Both Orr and Tucker will have sculptural works on display, including installation pieces from two of Tucker's most recent series.
