The 23rd Annual Elissa Regatta Festival
Take a tour of the 1877 Tall Ship Elissa, the centerpiece of the 23rd Annual Elissa Regatta Festival. The Houston Yacht Club and the Texas Seaport Museum joined forces to bring the recently restored Elissa to the Houston Bayport Cruise Terminal for a weekend of pomp (there are commodores and consulates involved), competition (the word regatta pretty much guarantees theres going to be a race at some point) and fun (tours, concerts and the chance to celebrate the return of the Elissa). The ship took a beating during Hurricane Ike, but volunteers have worked tirelessly to return her to her former beauty, and reports are that theyve done a great job of it. Various regatta festivities are scheduled over the weekend, but you can take a tour of the Elissa 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and tomorrow. 4700 Cruise Road, Pasadena. For information, call 713-629-2133 or visit www.tsm-elissa.com. $3 to $5.
