The Blue Man Group
Rediscover your sense of awe at today's performance by the Blue Man Group. Unlike previous Blue Man concerts, this is a theatrical production, similar to the groups long-running Broadway-like shows in Chicago, Las Vegas and Tokyo.
The show includes a few Blue Man favorites, as well as a wealth of new material that mixes music, theatrics, science and comedy. The backdrop is an LED curtain and high-resolution screen that spans the stage, adding to the already over-the-top visual quality of the show. (Expect oversize drums, huge, floating illuminated spheres and a live band on stage as well.)
Blue Man Group co-founder Philip Stanton says the reason the group has never toured with the theatrical production is technical. "We needed to find a way to transform theaters of all shapes and sizes into spaces
where the audience can become engaged with the spirit of the show," Stanton says via press materials. "We think we have finally figured it out, and an audience member in a theater that seats 4,500 people or so will now be able to enjoy the same intimate experience that might be had in one of our smaller theaters." 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m., 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-632-8113 or visit www.spahouston.org. $24 to $59.
