The Candidate Conspiracy author John Odam
Becoming president of the United States is hard and expensive. No one knows this better than John Odam. (Well, okay, other than the guys who actually run for the office.) The Texas-born lawyer recently served on the Obama/Biden Texas Finance Committee, part of the record-breaking fund-raising team that helped get the President-elect his new gig.
Odam calculates suspense into the life of campaign volunteers in The Candidate Conspiracy, his second book and first novel. The story follows Jennifer Spencer, a young, feisty Houston lawyer who, while volunteering for the United States Senate campaign of Warren McDonald, suspects his opponent incumbent J. Russell Creighton is financing his run illegally under the table. Her hunch turns into an international investigation involving Russian hit men, Colombian drug cartels and evil gun lobbyists. (Evil gun lobbyists? Yep, Odams definitely a Democrat). Odam will sign and discuss copies of The Candidate Conspiracy from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Blue Willow Bookshop, 14532 Memorial. For information, call 281-497-8675 or visit www.bluewillowbookshop.com. Free.
Odam will also sign books from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, at River Oaks Bookstore, 3270 Westheimer. For information, call 713-520-0061 or visit www.riveroaksbookstore.com. Free.
