See the sour side to the sweet industry in the 2010 documentary by Miki Mistrati and U. Roberto Romano, The Dark Side of Chocolate, hosted by Houston Rescue & Restore Coalition. The film examines the industrys little known history of using child labor to process cocoa beans. Hidden cameras capture the child abuse, including trafficking, in the West African regions of Mali and the Ivory Coast, the worlds largest producers of cocoa. Stick around after the screening for a Q&A session and a tasting of guilt-free chocolates made by a fair-trade business. 7 p.m. February 10. River Oaks Theatre, 2009 W. Gray. For information, call 713-874-0290 or visit www.houstonrr.org. $10.
