The Drowsy Chaperone
Lose yourself for a couple of sweet hours under the intoxicating charms of The Drowsy Chaperone. The 2006 Broadway musical comedy hit by a team of Tony winners including Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison features a lonely man who adores the glitz and glamour of old-time song and dance. Known only as Man in Chair, the character starts the fabulousness off by putting on a vinyl record of a 1928 musical called, what else, The Drowsy Chaperone. What follows is the magic of his imagination come fully alive with all the vixens and tap dancers of early Broadway. Add in a reprise of the critically acclaimed performance by Georgia Engel (of Mary Tyler Moore fame), and youve got a show thats so sinfully easy to enjoy that The New York Times said its like being able to eat your cake and diet too. See The Drowsy Chaperone at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby, at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and 7:30 p.m. Sundays. Through June 1.
