The Gift of Christmas - Live
Mix up the old dinner-and-a-movie routine with The Gift of Christmas - Live, a dinner theater variety show at Moody Gardens. The centerpieces of the evening are a new work by Cuban-American artist Rolando Diaz - which he'll paint onstage alongside singers and musicians - and a new original song, "The Gift of Christmas," created by Kell and Julie Curtis. The cast, including ex-American Idol contestant Rickey Hayes and Horizon Vocalist of the Year nominee April Driggers, will offer both traditional and ultramodern renderings of classics like "O Holy Night," "Run Rudolph Run" and "The Little Drummer Boy" on the high-tech, glitzy stage (though a rep for the show describes the setting as "very up-close and personal"). Enjoy a traditional holiday dinner while you watch the show, then take a walk through the Festival of Lights display. 6:30 p.m. today. One Hope Boulevard, Galveston. Through December 27. For a full schedule, call 409-683-4186 or visit www.moodytickets.com. $43.
