The Prep School Negro
When André Robert Lee won a scholarship to an elite prep school, his family was thrilled. Lee lived in one of Philadelphias black ghettos, and his mother supported the family by working at a minimum wage job. A good education would change Lees life, everyone thought, but no one knew just how much. In the documentary film The Prep School Negro, the now adult Lee revisits his experiences as a teen.
