From Mexico to the Netherlands, Several Dancers Core reached around the world to commission new works by female choreographers, which its CORE Performance Company will have its Houston premiere tonight in Three. The first work, the romantic Cumulus, set to string music by Charles Ives and the text of an e. e. cummings poem, is by prominent Dutch choreographer Beppie Blankert, known for her theatricality and experimentation. Alicia Sanchez of Mexico will explore solitude and desperation in Tus Pasos Encontrados (Your Found Steps), employing her trademark theater of movement style, which focuses on dances narrative and emotional qualities. Finally, the Vermont-based choreographer and multimedia artist Polly Motley will spin dancers in and out of solos, duets and trios in Charmed Romantics, making for an eclectic, exciting blend of fresh, new dance. 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
