Davy Rothbart has a secret. Actually, he has thousands of them, and he wants to share them with you. The creator of
FOUND Magazine and, most recently,
FOUND II takes great pride in publishing people's most personal notes and photographs. "When you're in real trouble in life, it's easy to feel isolated," says Rothbart. "But when you look at others' notes and see that a stranger has experienced the same things as you, it can be really powerful and you feel less alone." It is this appreciation for strangers' secrets that led Rothbart to invite fellow community art project pioneer and Post Secret creator Frank Warren along on his
Cavalcade of Thrills Tour.
The 33-city Thrills tour to promote FOUND II also features Rothbart's younger brother and FOUND minstrel Peter Rothbart. Rothbart the younger will sing original songs about found items, including a reprisal of fan favorite "Damn the Booty Don't Stop" and a new song, "Bus or Beer?" "It's about a person trying to make a very difficult decision," says Rothbart the elder, with a laugh. The Thrills tour, he adds, is sure to be "a smash-´em-up good time for everyone." The Thrills crew hits town for two shows at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Tue., June 6, 8 & 10 p.m.
