Triumph of Love
The Classical Theatre Company opens their new season with a fun comedy by one of France's most adored playwrights of the Enlightenment period, Pierre de Marivaux. His Triumph of Love is a charming tale about love beating logic. At the center of the story is Leonide, a girl who will go to great lengths to capture the man of her dreams. To find love, she travels into a secluded group of logical-thinking philosophers who don't care a bit about romantic silliness. She dresses as a young man and manages to fool Hermocrate, the stern philosopher king at the center of the group, his crabby sister Leontine and their servants. Satire and lots of mistaken identities allow Leonide to show Hermocrate and the other high-minded thinkers the errors of their ways as she creates havoc and hilarity on her way to true love. See Triumph of Love at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays and 7:30 p.m. September 19. Through September 25. Talento Bilingue de Houston, 333 South Jensen.
