UH Goes to the Barn!
The click-clack of a typewriter, almost unheard in these days of computer tablets and inkjet printers, makes up the soundtrack to Marcela Acosta's Blank Page, one of several works performed during UH Goes to the Barn! Student choreographers, dancers and producers mount an evening-length program. Along with Blank Page there's a restaging of Erica Henderson's S.I.R. (the dancers recite a fragmented version of Maya Angelou's Still I Rise), Stephanie Sermas's Blood Pressure and a solo piece by Maria Williams. This is the first time these works have been staged in a professional venue. Oh, and if you’re wondering about the barn mentioned in the program’s title, it’s short for Barnevelder Movement/Arts Complex, where the performance is being held.
