You’ll spend lots of your time looking up at the Vault Open House. Headed by choreographer Amy Ell, Vault is something of an endeavor and an experiment, mixing contemporary and aerial dance techniques. The result, which will be demonstrated during the open house, is more than just a souped-up Cirque du Soleil-like dance number — it’s an exciting hybrid of art forms. Houston audiences have seen several Vault shows, including Arthopodic Animals: Insecta and Blau, and each seemingly defies gravity. Ell uses all of the performance space available, so expect Vault’s aerial artists to soar and zoom and flit throughout the studio. 7 p.m. Spring Street Studios, 1824 Spring Street. For information, call 713-459-2234 or visit www.amyell.com. $6.
