Even the most generous of souls might have a hard time signing a check for charity these days, but when you get live music, food and social interaction in return, as you will at Vox Cultures Vox Populi two-day event, youll find donating a little easier. Friday evening features experimental music from Michelle Yom, soulful acous- tic from J. Hall and spoken word from Marley Lizama; Saturday afternoon features a childrens presentation by author and musician Bobby Bang, folk guitar from Leah Shearer, and indie rockers Remembering Carthage. Both days offer open-mike opportunities, food and walls of art by local artists. And, of course, during the fun you can learn about Floresta, the group your donation will support, which works to develop healthy communities in impoverished rural areas of Haiti, Tanzania, Mexico and beyond. 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Vox Culture Houston, 11201 Richmond, A107. For information, visit www.voxculturehouston.com. $5 suggested donation.
