"Wind-Up: Walking the Warp"
Anne Wilson's Wind-Up: Walking the Warp is the only work of art we're aware of that combines aspects of sewing and dance. For today's performance of Wind-Up at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, the Chicago-based Wilson, with help from Houston dance ensemble Hope Stone Dance, will weave 40 yards of string around 24 posts in a 7-by-17-foot frame, moving in choreographed fashion. The resulting walls of string look like a grid of translucent sci-fi force fields. Now, if only some art innovator would combine printmaking and fire breathing...5216 Montrose.
