The reading is directed by Brandon Weinbrenner, fresh from his triumph directing Venus in Fur for the Alley Theatre. Loewy hasn’t been involved in the casting or rehearsal process so far. He’ll meet the cast and see just one rehearsal before the reading. “Because it’s a reading, one of the really good things about this production is that it’s just the words,” he says. “Like a lot of playwrights, I tend to write almost musically. My dialogue has a certain intentional cadence and rhythm to it. With a staged reading that musicality can come out. The rhythms between the characters and the tension in the silences get played up, and that’s going to be fun.”
