Working, the Musical
Stephen Schwartz knows a thing or two about musicals. After all, he wrote some of the most popular ones ever to hit Broadway Wicked, Pippin and Godspell. Still, when it came to transforming Studs Turkels book Working, a collection of interviews with everyday working people, into an entertaining song-and-dance revue, Schwartz had his, ah, work cut out for him. Schwartz not only pulled it off, he pulled it off brilliantly with Working, the Musical. The show, which features the stories of a parking attendant, a sailor and a waitress, among others, has been called glorious, moving and terrifically original. Its also a lot of fun. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Through April 28. ACE Theatre, 17011 Bamwood. For information, call 281-587-1020 or visit www.acetheatre.org. $15 to $20.
