Local singer offers up folk-pop

Singer-songwriter Kenneth Scott has the rootsy-but-accessible style that record companies were eating up a decade ago in search of the next Hootie. Although mainstream tastes have changed, there’s always room for some well-polished folk-pop, and Scott’s been making the rounds of local cafes and coffee shop-ish venues, stirring up crowds with his emotive voice and Dave Matthews-like strumming. His recently recorded demo tape may be harder to shop around to record companies in this glitzier era, but hey, who really wants to be lumped in with Rusted Root and Widespread Panic anyway?
