The Ginger Man Pub

The Ginger Man Pub

Boasting what the bar claims is "America's largest selection of import draughts," the Ginger Man surely has a brew to suit you amongst the 68 on draft and additional 140-150 bottled suds.
Under The Volcano

Under The Volcano

Don't miss the "steak night" special on Monday nights, when a 16-ounce USDA Choice ribeye with tossed salad and mashed potatoes is a bargain.
Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

A smattering of old guitars and groovy fluorescent skating-rink stars decorate the walls, and Dan Electro's corner stage has played host to too many local and regional names to count (most often blues, folk, roots-rock and hard rock).

  • The Black Swan

    The Black Swan

    4 Riverway Houston, TX 77056
713-871-8181 In the basement of the Omni Hotel, the Black Swan doesn’t spend much time marketing itself. An in-the-know hotspot for wedding and business parties, this underground club manages to feel upscale and even somewhat refined while maintaining an atmosphere that implores visitors to party all night. The bartenders are friendly and favorable with their pour; the dance floor is always lively and packed; and the drinks aren’t as expensive as you might initially suppose for an Omni-related bar. The self-parking is a bit of a pain, but if you can make your way through the garage, into the hotel and down the elevator, it’s well worth the trip. Read more about The Black Swan >>

  • Blanco

    Blanco's Bar & Grill

    3406 W. Alabama Houston, TX 77027
713-439-0072 Blanco's is a true country bar, long known as the only real place inside the Loop to get your honky-tonk fix with straight-shootin' live music Wednesday through Friday. The crowd here ranges from seasoned regulars to nervous novices not looking for trouble. One look at the jukebox will let you know exactly where you stand, and whiskey, beer and two-steppin' abound. Blanco's never lets you forget you're in Texas, even for a second. Mr. Dale Watson is almost a monthly regular here, and his tales of drunken, truck-driving woe are great chaser for anything the bar can throw out at you. Read more about Blanco's Bar & Grill >>

    The Blue Door

    11124 Westheimer Houston, TX 77042
713-866-4025 Tucked behind an anonymous strip mall off Westheimer and the Sam Houston Tollway is The Blue Door. With a DJ almost every night, the Blue Door caters to the urban/hip hop atmosphere and has been the location for a few music videos. Friday nights are catered, Saturday nights are Caribbean and ladies get in free at Sunday's Ladies Night. Most nights end well past 2 a.m., and food is always prevalent with a barbecue trailer pit set up nearby for refueling. The Blue Door's 10 flat screen TVs are always tuned to sports channels for those multi-taskers, and the club offers three VIP areas and a section for private parties. • Blue Label Lounge

4500 Washington Ave. Houston, TX 77007-5476

  • Blue Lagoon

    Blue Lagoon

1248 Witte Road Houston, TX 77055

The first thing that stands out about Blue Lagoon is the sign above the bar that reads, "No pissy attitudes." The bar takes this seriously, but prides itself on a friendly atmosphere where the bartenders (especially Jack) will learn your name - and use it - before you leave for the first time. It's been under the same ownership for three decades, and the waitstaff isn't afraid to turn away customers who've had one too many. The back wall is covered with pictures of regulars carousing around the bar and the ceiling-fan-cooled back patio. Busy during the early evenings, Blue Lagoon gets quieter the later it's open, matching the low-key but wide-ranging selection of music on the juke box. Read more about Blue Lagoon >>

713-529-1099 Boheme's moody lighting, wraparound patio, and eclectic smattering of classy chairs and couches make for a charming atmosphere to enjoy Montrose's neighborhood color. Boheme's homemade sangria is a big hit, and thanks to the second bar on the back patio, grabbing a drink is even faster when there's a weekend crowd. The menu features bistro-style American and European upscale-casual fare. Read more about Boheme Cafe & Wine Bar >>

  • Bohemian Hill Tavern

    Bohemian Hill Tavern

    2339 1st St. Rosenberg, TX 77471
281-232-8143 Open since 1949 in a building that was formerly a gas station, this low-key, clean and friendly bar derives its name from both the historically large Czech community in Rosenberg as well as the fact that it is located on the highest spot in the city, topographically. Bohemian Hill serves up liquor, wine, and beer to the locals of all ages, and each week hosts a lot of fun special events. Mondays are Sin or Service Industry Night; on Tuesdays Bohemian offers up free pool, a dominoes tournament and Texas beer specials; every Wednesday is Ladies Night; Thursdays are the nights for the weekly shuffleboard tournament; live music is on Fridays (country, rock, and jazz); and on Saturdays, karaoke awaits you. • Bombshells Restaurant and Bar

    Bombshells Restaurant and Bar

12810 Gulf Freeway Houston, TX 77034
281-484-3279 Bombshells has three new locations in the Houston area, and seems to be going for the Hooter's/Twin Peaks formula: scantily clad, attractive young women serving up American food like burgers, pizza and wings, with beer. Bombshells does have a military-themed twist on the concept; the young ladies wear Army green tops, short black skirts, black boots, faux bullet belts, and the occasional military dog tags. Following the theme even further, Bombshells has military airplane wings over the top of the bar, and missiles, army helmets, and sandbags scattered throughout the place. Sports is also big here; there are around 70 HD TVs up on the walls, none with a screen smaller than 50 inches. Loud pop music was played when we visited, and live music is also performed occasionally on the giant patio out front. Read more about Bombshells Restaurant and Bar >>
