http://www.myspace.com/montroseminingcompany Cheap, strong drinks, friendly service and muscular male dancers working hard for the money are just a few of Montrose Mining Company's perks. Long a favorite of Pacific Street's "Leather and Levis" crowd, the Mining Company is a sight to behold. The wood floors and barrels give the nondescript building's interior a modern-country feel and amiable vibe, and the spacious outdoor patio provides all the fresh air you can breathe when this mine's quarters start getting a little too close. https://www.facebook.com/bigweeniestyles Moon Tower Inn isn't a restaurant as much as it is a beacon in the night: Come here and we will comfort you with sausages and beer. Out here in the wilds of the Second Ward, Moon Tower's young owners have carved out a space for people just like them, people who crave good food, good beer, a place to park their bicycles and absolutely no intruding sense of normalcy. Relax with a beer on the knobbly open-air patio while you dither between buffalo or rabbit dogs. Whatever you do, leave your attitude and expectations at the door and you'll be a happy camper. They don't make 'em like Mr. Gino's anymore. With Christmas lights on the walls, plywood partitioning and a small stage in the corner, Gino's feels more like a juke joint in rural Mississippi or East Texas than a bar in the fourth-largest city in America. (Its lack of a Web site should give you a small hint about its authenticity.) Gino's is a neighborhood bar all the time, but its real draw is the Sunday-night open jams — full of blues, R&B and soul that sticks to your ribs — that have been welcoming loyal regulars and curious onlookers alike since it opened. Provided you can find the place — look for the used-furniture store next door with the handwritten signs in the windows — it's probably the best $5 you'll spend all week. http://www.mugsyshouston.com Mugsy's narrow but beautiful interior makes it feel ages old, the kind of cozy that can't be replicated by chance design. It also comes from a staff that takes the time to know your name and foster a feeling of camaraderie among the regulars. Mugsy's front and back patios offer an outdoor refuge perfect for posting up with a brew and enjoying the fair weather. Just past the inside bar, a room with several booths and a few large televisions has apparently found great favor with local sports fanatics. There are no quiet weekends, needless to say. http://www.muldoonsbar.com Hidden beneath large tree limbs and behind a Beck's Prime, Muldoon's offers customers the opportunity to get out of Dodge while remaining well within the greater Galleria area. Space is limited, but you'll almost always be able to squeeze in - and once you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how easily you can hear your friends. The prices aren't the best in town, but they're not the steepest, either. The bar's comfortable vibe makes Muldoon's perfect for casual get-togethers, especially during nice weather.
