The Ginger Man Pub

The Ginger Man Pub

Boasting what the bar claims is "America's largest selection of import draughts," the Ginger Man surely has a brew to suit you amongst the 68 on draft and additional 140-150 bottled suds.
Under The Volcano

Under The Volcano

Don't miss the "steak night" special on Monday nights, when a 16-ounce USDA Choice ribeye with tossed salad and mashed potatoes is a bargain.
Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

A smattering of old guitars and groovy fluorescent skating-rink stars decorate the walls, and Dan Electro's corner stage has played host to too many local and regional names to count (most often blues, folk, roots-rock and hard rock).

713-526-5282 Under The Volcano, a cozy, eccentric bar in Rice Village, takes its name from a macabre 1947 novel by Malcolm Lowry. It's a great club for most every occasion, be it a birthday, a first date, or the beginning of the longest night of your life. Don't miss the "steak night" special on Monday nights, when a 16-ounce USDA Choice rib-eye with tossed salad and mashed potatoes is a bargain, plus you may be able to spy a few Houston Texans players chowing down. • Underdogs Sports Pub

    Underdogs Sports Pub

4212 Washington Ave. Houston, TX 77007
713-868-5688 Underdogs is the ideal place for lovers of two specific things: craft beer and dogs. Unlike many dog-friendly bar/restaurants, Underdogs doesn't serve food, so your canine friends are welcome inside and out. It also has the distinction of selling some of the cheapest draft pints—including premium brews from across the country—in Houston at a mere $5 a pint. There are 10 beers on tap and a great selection of bottles as well. If you get hungry while hanging with your hound, there's usually a food truck out front. And in the back, there's essentially a wide-open dog park, complete with picnic tables, small obstacle courses and lots of poo bags for your canine friend. Read more about Underdogs Sports Pub >>

  • Union Tavern

    Union Tavern

435 El Dorado Blvd. Webster, TX 77598
281-486-6644 Located way out in suburban Clear Lake, or Webster to be more specific, Union Tavern is not well-known to Houston inner-loopers, though the bar and live music venue hosts a lot of the same local bands that play Fitzgerald's, Rudyard's and other Houston staples on a regular basis. Chris J. Hardy of local band Hardy & Co. hosts an open-mike night on Tuesday starting at 9 p.m., and all participants get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize in the Union Tavern bi-monthly giveaways. When live music is not going down, locals stop in to play pool and darts and enjoy the spacious back patio when the weather is nice. Read more about Union Tavern >>
