The Ginger Man Pub

The Ginger Man Pub

Boasting what the bar claims is "America's largest selection of import draughts," the Ginger Man surely has a brew to suit you amongst the 68 on draft and additional 140-150 bottled suds.
Under The Volcano

Under The Volcano

Don't miss the "steak night" special on Monday nights, when a 16-ounce USDA Choice ribeye with tossed salad and mashed potatoes is a bargain.
Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

Dan Electro's Guitar Bar

A smattering of old guitars and groovy fluorescent skating-rink stars decorate the walls, and Dan Electro's corner stage has played host to too many local and regional names to count (most often blues, folk, roots-rock and hard rock).

  • Bacchus Wine Bar

    Bacchus Wine Bar

601 E Main St League City, TX 77573
832-632-1325 A friendly husband-and-wife team owns and runs this quaint little wine bar in League City, housed in a building that was a pharmacy back in the '60s. Open up the custom-made, hand-carved door from Ecuador, walk up to the bar and order one of the 150 different bottles of wines in stock here, or just a glass or two, or more. Fifteen craft-bottled beers are also in stock to go with a number of food items such as a cheese plate, a Bacchus Pie, and handmade pizzas with your choice of toppings. Mellow, relaxing music is played here, including jazz, classic rock and soul from the '60s and '70s. Live music is featured on Friday nights, often folk and classic-rock covers; patrons can even bring their guitars and join in. On Saturday nights you can bring in your vinyl records and the owners will play them for you on the bar’s record player. Chess and other games are on hand and wine lockers are available for a fee. A patio out back is shaded by a giant tree, and available for small anniversary and engagement parties. Read more about Bacchus Wine Bar >>

    Boondoggle's Pub & Pizzeria

4106 Nasa Road One Seabrook, TX 77586
281-326-2739 Clear Lake and Seabrook have dozens of great seaside bars, but it's Boondoggle's Pub I find myself frequenting most often down south. It may not offer the great views of other Clear Lake watering holes, but this one has the advantage of looking and feeling like an authentic English pub in its own, odd way. It also has the advantage of offering some truly tasty food, like pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven -- a damn sight better than the Totino's-style pizza rolls offered by most bars. • Cellar Bar (Clear Lake)

    Cellar Bar (Clear Lake)

16611 Sea Lark Houston, TX 77062

Located on a side street just off El Camino and Bay Area Boulevard, Cellar Bar oozes a relaxed charm that makes it a popular escape from the usually much busier Molly's Pub just across the parking lot. Inside the little lounge, a red glow lights up a calm area lined with barstools, a handful of tables and two pool tables in the back. A few televisions play sports and sitcoms, giving the spot a living-room ambience. The Cellar offers a decent collection of beers and booze, including bartender favorites Fernet and Campari. 3659 Nasa Pkwy Seabrook, TX 77586
832-864-2131 This pub in Seabrook serves up authentic British food prepared by an English chef who once worked for Princess Margaret. American cuisine such as burgers, sandwiches and salads are also on the menu. The bar has 17 craft brew beers on tap as well as bottled beers, a fully stocked bar and an excellent wine selection. Patrons can entertain themselves by playing one of the pub’s many board games or by playing a game of darts in the dart room. Those wanting a little quiet can escape to the cozy Queen’s Library to hide away and read a paperback. The pub offers up a full schedule of events each week including Monday Trivia Nights, Wednesday Open Mic Nights and live music Thursday through Sunday, usually performers covering classic rock and pop songs on guitar as well as singer-songwriters performing originals. Patrons can enjoy Sunday brunch in the formal dining room while listening to visiting musicians play the pub’s piano. • The Davenport (Clear Lake)

    The Davenport (Clear Lake)

1235 Clear Lake City Blvd. Houston, TX 77062
281-461-3283 Like its big sister location on Richmond Avenue, this relaxing lounge has a variety of nearly 50 specialty martinis to choose from. In addition, the drink menu includes a lengthy list of cocktails and shots with colorful names like “Jonestown Kool-Aid” and “Alien Secretion” made from vodkas, whiskeys, and other spirits from around the world. When we visited the bartender told us they were infusing some pineapple into vodka and bacon into bourbon to create new custom flavors as well. The bar also has an impressive collection of single malt and blended Scotches. A friendly crowd of mature regulars can be found during the afternoon and into the night enjoying generously poured drinks. During the day the bar is filled with natural light from large windows, turning dark and romantic when the sun goes down. The lounge is lined with paintings of celebrities and other subjects from local artists that are up for sale. A spacious back patio is available for smokers. Music is bartender’s choice; blues was played the night we visited. Read more about The Davenport (Clear Lake) >>

281-326-7613 Built on a barge and accessed by a gangplank, this wooden floating party palace is the vision of a popular beer ad come to life. All summer long, it's the place where powerboats rumble up to deposit guests or merely troll by to give patrons an eyeful of the captain's rippling pecs while young ladies in teensy thongs linger along the bow. Everything from classic rock to blues to Parrothead fare graces the stage here on weekends. Read more about Lance's Turtle Club >>

281-486-0971 Home of the lauded Wednesday Big Ass Beer nights and Clear Lake's most eclectic group of barflies, Molly's Pub has been the Bay Area's answer to indie Inner-Loop bars for over a decade. You can expect every stripe and strain of drinker to converge on this tucked-away haunt for cheap booze and the storied dartboards. At one table, you might find pierced and tattooed girls with Bettie Page bangs chatting it up, while two feet away thirsty boardshort-clad brahs pound Bull Blasters. It makes for strange hook-ups and even better people-watching, while the patio with a full working bar makes drinking and smoking bearable on even the warmest NASA country nights. No previous painting experience is needed because an artist on staff will take you and the rest of your class step by step through your lesson. All age groups are welcome; Paint Pub even offers family days and summer camps for kids. When we visited on a recent afternoon, a group of retired folks was busy painting. Paint Pub even provides live music on Brushes and Bands night, and shopping is available at the small on-site boutique that sells woman’s clothing, jewelry, barware and other items. Date nights are available for you romantic types, and reservations for private parties are gladly accepted.
