    Inman Gallery

3901 Main St. Houston, TX 77002
713-526-7800 Midtown's Inman Gallery is well respected for consistently presenting quality contemporary art. Owner Kerry Inman and director Patrick Reynolds encourage artists to take risks and try new things, making the space feel more Kunsthalle than commercial gallery. Inman's stable of artists is impressive. The gallery represents a number of Texas artists and has snapped up a variety of strong talents as they pass through the Houston area. More >>

    1953 Montrose Houston, TX 77006
713-523-4866 This coffee shop is house next to Art League Houston in a building that, several years ago, was a giant, trippy art project. The Art Guys dismantled the wall facing the street and created a wooden vortex that led toward the back of the building, attracting all sorts of media attention and photo-takers. Now a shiny new building stands in its place, and on the coffee shop side, it's all about brewed drinks, pastries and a sleek, reasonably quiet place to study or hang out, right off Montrose. Prices are a bit steeper than Starbucks, but that's forgivable for an independent place. Free wi-fi is available -- the password is listed on your receipt. More >>
