The Fairview caters to it's neighborhood art, cinema and culture lovers. Nonetheless, The Fairview has yet to be taken over by a specific group, with a wide range of regulars and walk-ins every night. Specials vary depending on what's in stock, but the happy hour from 5-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday -- and all day Sunday -- offers $3 wells, $2 Lone Stars and $1 off all beers, liquors and wines. No kitchen, but plenty of free popcorn is available and food trucks are almost always parked somewhere nearby. More >>
Known for Tex-Mex and margaritas, Fiesta en Guadalajara has been in the Heights for the past 20 years. They stick with standards like enchiladas, fajitas, chips and salsa, and refried beans; you'll get large portions to lull you to sleep, with help from the tequila in their potent cocktails. The weekends bring a lively atmosphere that includes live mariachi bands. Fiesta En Guadalajara is family friendly, but it's also a popular with the business crowd. More >>
http://www.firehousesaloon.com With a decommissioned fire truck out front and a towering sign above the freeway, it's difficult to miss Firehouse Saloon. Past the rustic façade of the entrance is the main room with three big bars, a dance floor, tables (usually crowded) and a stage where country acts play Thursday through Saturday. Upstairs, a small balcony provides a view over the band, and dozens of boots hang from the rafters as memorials to friends, regulars, and fallen firefighters and servicemen. If twang's not your thing, escape for a smoke on the large patio or watch the game on the handful of TVs in the smaller room near the back. More >>
http://www.fitzlivemusic.com Arguably Houston's answer to NYC dive CBGB's since 1977, Heights staple Fitzgerald's can't help but ooze local music history. The historic two-story venue boasts four bars, a killer Wednesday open mic night, and music most every night of the week on the larger upstairs and the smaller more intimate downstairs stages. The neighborhood surrounding it is growing, so parking is always at a premium on the weekends. More >>
https://www.facebook.com/FoxHollow The cozy yet stylish Fox Hollow is almost completely hidden from the nearby Washington Avenue hubbub, and feels like it. Decorated in English pub style with a modern twist, the bar features antique picture frames and red oval lampshades, with an open-floor layout ideal for larger crowds. For smaller parties, the tables and couches in various nooks offer a more intimate setting to enjoy the bar's already-popular happy hour. More >>
http://www.fwdhouston.com This Midtown spot just might be Houston's least pretentious dance club. FWD doesn't care about your sharp duds or your fly kicks, and certainly isn't gunning to be a flavor-of-the-month bar. Sleek white couches line the walls, with high-walled curved corner booths providing some space to conceal a group. The sound system is loud, with house, techno, and club music pulsing and pounding through the room courtesy of both local DJs and out-of-town guests. (If it gets too loud, try out the large patio.) Refreshingly, everyone seems to be here for the music rather than being seen. More >>
