Free to $5
Skip the bars and pumpkin carving, says Kelly Howard of Bayou City Outdoors, and join the group of adventurous hikers who are braving the dark woods of Memorial Park for the 10th Annual Bayou City Outdoors Haunted Hike this Halloween. You’re sure to hear from owls, squirrels and things that generally go bump in the night. “A hike on the trails is exciting, even when it’s not dark,” says Howard. “You add the dark to it, it just gets a lot more fun.” This year’s theme is “slithery things in the dark,” a nod to Harry Potter and a departure from the usual Halloween unusuals like werewolves. Or clowns. If you’re uninterested in the exercise, rest easy; the hike has an after-party that’s open to all. It begins at 8 p.m.; bring $5 for pizza.

6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Memorial Park, 7575 North Picnic Lane. For information, call 713-524-3567 or visit bayoucityoutdoors.com. Free.

[Organizer's description:] 10th Annual BCO Haunted Hike
October 31, 2016 - 6:30- 9:30 PM
Meet at Memorial Park near the rugby/soccer field parking lot
N Picnic LN - South side of Memorial (map link at www.bayoucityoutdoors.com)

Get your spooky on with BCO as we hike and slither our way through Memorial Park wooded trails and off the beaten path. What better to do on Halloween than to taunt the forest trolls? For those who make it out of the forest in one piece, we’ll fortify ourselves with pizza and beverages and toast those we left behind :) just kidding!!

Tap into your inner wolf or go all vampy on us, or come as your witchy self. Leave the bars to the zombies and join us in the woods for some quality and creepy exercise and socializing at Memorial Park.

We meet at 6:30 and depart at 7 PM sharp from the rugby/soccer field parking lot

(For you chickens out there - just come to the after-party starting around 8 PM in the parking lot). Don’t get left in the dark and don’t forget to wear walking shoes (it is a hike no matter how dead you are), a flashlight, bug spray, and $5.00 for pizza.

Open to members, guests and the public (we love fresh meat) – bring a friend or come alone, if you dare. You'll be sure to find a devil or two to talk to. (Please no dogs at this hike)

*Bring $5 cash for pizza and your favorite after hike beverage (NO glass bottles).
