Le Corsaire. The 19th century ballet, inspired by Lord Byron’s poem The Corsair, tells the story of a pirate, Conrad, who falls in love with Medora, the ward of a slave merchant. The ballet has gone through many reworkings and reimaginings, including at the hands of Marius Petipa, but the Bolshoi promises a lavish production of its own, complete with a dramatic shipwreck and captivating scenery.
