DEADLINE: MARCH 31
JURIED BY ANDERSON+MEDRANO
Piñatas on the Esplanade sculpture competition invites Houston artists to create contemporary sculptures inspired by Piñatas. The Piñata Festival’s vision is to celebrate Houston’s connection to folk art and funk as well as the neighborhood Mexican-American cultural traditions.
Each applicant accepted will receive a modest stipend to create their sculpture. There is no cost to enter. Accepted sculpture proposals will be exhibited on the iconic Navigation Esplanade in conjunction with East End Street Market, the second largest street market in Houston. The juror will judge the works on Sunday, May 7th, and there will be an award ceremony announcing the winner that afternoon.
Entry is open to individual artists, as well as collaborative groups.
