[Organizer's description:] Fort Bend County Libraries’ Sienna Branch Library will present a children’s theater performance by the Noyes Fine Arts Foundation of an original musical-theater production of "Tacky the Penguin" on Monday, October 17, beginning at 2:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd in Missouri City.
This family-friendly performance is based on a popular children’s book written by Helen Lester, and adapted to the stage as a one-act musical by Books Alive! for the Noyes Fine Arts Foundation’s Book Bash program.
In the story, Tacky the penguin does not fit in with his sleek and graceful companions, but his “odd” behavior comes in handy when hunters come with maps and traps.
The Noyes Fine Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit community-arts organization committed to bringing semi-professional theater and fine arts education to the Katy area. Through the Book Bash program, the Noyes Fine Arts Foundation brings the magic of live theater and the gift of literacy to children by adapting children’s literature into fully staged, original musicals, performed by professional actors.
The program is presented with the generous support of the Friends of the Sienna Branch Library. Proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales and annual membership dues help to underwrite the costs of special programming and various cultural events at the libraries.
The performance is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Sienna Branch Library at 281-238-2900 or the library system’s Public Information Office at 281-633-4734.
