Undefeated heavyweight boxer and anti-bullying advocate David Rodriguez will be in the Houston area May 17 to meet fans and sign copies of his book, When the Lights Go Out: From Survivor to Champion. Rodriguez (www.davidninorodriguez.com) racked up an impressive 36-0 win record, including 34 KOs (24 of them being in the first round--a number that relieved Mike Tyson of his legendary first-round record). But a couple of years ago, being a mere few fights away from the title of heavyweight championship of the world, an attempted murder left him with hundreds of stitches to his throat and face, and unable to fight for months. In his memoir, When the Lights Go Out: From Survivor to Champion, Rodriguez chronicles his road to glory, downfall, and struggle to make his way back through advocating for bullied children.
