Fort Bend County Libraries’ George Memorial Library, 1001 Golfview in Richmond, invites everyone to an open-house Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Tables will be set up in the Meeting Room with informational displays from different organizations and businesses. Learn about ways to reduce heating and cooling costs, water and fuel consumption, and about energy hogs around the home that may be contributing to high electric bills. Information on hybrid vehicles from different automobile manufacturers will also be available. Fort Bend County Master Gardeners will be on hand in Room 2A to share information on how to grow an earth-friendly garden, how to use a worm farm to reduce kitchen waste, and how to make compost for the lawn and garden. Representatives from the Fort Bend County Recycling Center will be available to answer questions about recycling resources in the area, as well as how different items should be disposed. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call George Memorial Library at 281-342-4455 or the library system’s Public Information Office at 281-633-4734.
