Galveston Island's first-ever PET-A-PALOOZA - a fun, family and canine event will be held on the grounds and on the street adjacent to First Lutheran Church, 24th & Winnie Street, in historic downtown Galveston. The festival will feature a staging area/main ring in the courtyard -highlighted with such fun competitions as "Best Costume", "Best Pet Hairstyle" and "Best Pet Dance Move." A "Shelter Spotlight" Parade, Galveston Police Dept.K-9 Demonstrations, "Ask the Vet" booth, a special Kids Zone, delightful array of vendors - featuring items for both festival goers and their pets - will round out the day's activities. The legendary Pee Wee Bowen Band will perform throughout the afternoon. Plus, look forward to a great variety of food from four Food Trucks, with beer, wine and soft drinks also available. There is NO admission charge and there is no fee to participate in the contests. All entries must have proof of current Rabies vaccinations and all pets must be on non-retractable leash. No female dogs in season will be allowed to participate. PET-A-PALOOZA will be the Galveston Island Humane Society's largest community outreach project, with all proceeds benefiting the Shelter.
