There will be African-American spirituals, and we have a commitment to the preservations of [those spirituals] by primarily black composers.” With excerpts from operas including Troubled Island

, Guild Artistic Director Jason Oby will lead these trained vocalists through an unforgettable evening of sound. With a catalog spanning the American Reconstruction era and the Great Depression to the years of the Haitian Revolution, Guillory promises, “This night touches on many issues of importance for the African-American community.”
