The primary purpose of the Golf Classic is to raise money to enhance and continue the services we provide to the children and seniors in Fort Bend County who need healthy food to eat, adequate shelter, and access to other daily necessities. This event will also provide an opportunity for like-minded agencies to combine resources and knowledge providing valuable information to the participants. The two programs the Golf Classic is supporting are: HEARTY Meals is the staple of our existence. Each month, DOP volunteers go into the local areas where homeless individuals and families reside. We prepare fresh, hot, quality, nutritious meals. On an average day, we serve approximately 325 meals to homeless individuals. We not only provide on-site meals, we also deliver meals to those who are not able to join us. Yes, we go to parks, fields, and bus stops to distribute meals to the hungry. Our Meals Express program partners with local agencies to fill the gap on weekends when our home-bound neighbors are not serviced by participating agencies. While receiving meals Monday-Friday are necessary, healthy meals are also need on Saturdays and Sundays. Our goal is to extend its existence from one weekend to every weekend this year. With your support, we will make sure no person has to wonder if they will eat on the weekend.
