International Film Fest Features Movie From India

Fort Bend County Libraries’ Cinco Ranch Branch Library will present a special International Film Festival during the week of May 22-26. Each day, a movie representing a different country will be shown in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd in Katy. The festival will kick off on Monday, May 22, with a movie from Australia. This fact-based drama from 2002 tells the heart-wrenching story of three Aborigine girls who escape from an Australian internment camp. The movie is rated PG. Showtime is 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, May 23, the film to be shown is a 1986 crime-drama from France. When a man inherits a farm in rural France, his covetous neighbor blocks a stream to force him off the land. The movie is rated PG. Showtime is 6:00 pm. On Wednesday, May 24, enjoy a musical romance from India. A musician falls for an unhappy woman who is waiting for her absent lover to return. The movie is rated PG. Showtime is 2:00 pm. The special feature on Thursday, May 25, is an adult drama from Italy about the Holocaust. When an open-minded Jewish librarian and his son become victims of the Holocaust, the father uses a perfect mixture of will, humor, and imagination to protect his son from the dangers around their camp. The movie is rated PG-13. Showtime is 6:00 pm. The film to be shown on Friday, May 26, is a 2015 family drama from Mexico. A couple is shocked to learn that their 8-year-old son is identified as a budding genius. This movie is rated PG-13. Showtime is 2:00 pm. The film presentations are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. The libraries’ licensing agreement for public showing of films prohibits them from releasing the name of the movie outside of the library.
