Documenting our lives with pictures has become easier than ever with the advent of smartphones with built-in cameras. Learn tips and tricks for improving iPhone photos at a special “iPhone Photography Workshop” at Fort Bend County Libraries’ George Memorial Library on Saturday, November 19, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm, in Room 2A of the library, located at 1001 Golfview in Richmond.
Houston-based photojournalist and digital-communications instructor André Hermann will discuss unique aspects of iPhone photography. Learn about iPhone-specific apps and filters that can be used to turn regular pictures into artistic creations and fun images. Get tips on photo composition and other techniques that can turn everyday photos into something spectacular. Hermann will also talk about sharing photos on various social-media platforms.
This workshop particularly focuses on the use of iPhone cameras. Those attending the workshop are encouraged to bring their iPhones (and chargers) to practice the new techniques being taught. The program is intended for older teens and adults.
Hermann has been a professional photographer for the past nine years. He has worked as a documentary photographer, photojournalist, street photographer and wedding photographer. He is a full-time instructor in the Digital Communications department at Houston Community College, where he teaches various digital-photography classes.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “George Memorial Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-341-2604, or by visiting the library.
