In recognition of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, Fort Bend County Libraries’ University Branch Library will host a “Japanese Tea Ceremony,” presented by members of the Japan-America Society of Houston, on Tuesday, May 16, beginning at 10:30 am, in Meeting Room 1 of the library, located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus. Observe and learn about this Japanese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha, or powdered green tea. Using authentic materials and tools, tea masters will demonstrate the art of making and serving tea, and will explain the significance of each step. This event is free and open to the public.
