Maryline Lemaitre was born in France, lived in Asia for nine years, then moved to Canada in 2001. Her paintings are inspired by everyday life, a thought or memory; an expression of her unconscious. The artist is physical with her work in that she accumulates layers of materials, fastens, scrapes, removes, applies back on, fashions and flattens, using broad brush strokes and even old credit cards to achieve the pictorial density. It is an intuitive process inspired by a picture, a pattern, some words or a special piece of old original writing which could be the key to define a theme, and begin a series. Lemaitre has participated in a dozen solo and group shows. Her paintings are part of the Cirque du Soleil collection of many corporate and private collections in the US, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai.
