The Studio @ Splendora Gardens is proud to announce the opening celebration for the first annual “National Flower Show.” This is an open-call (every artist gets one piece in) celebration of the return of Splendora Gardens and Spring. On view will be art of all kinds that interpret the theme of “flowers” and/or “gardens.” Included will be early work newly refurbished by James Surls, as well as work by Charmaine Locke, Daniel Johnston, Dickie Landry, Jim Riswold, Ruby Surls, Alton DuLaney, The Wheeler Brothers, Greenleaf Elementary (Splendora), and many other artists.
The festivities will begin with an old-school celebratory potluck lunch hosted by James Surls, Charmaine Locke, and Ruby Surls. At 3:00 pm, we will be transmitting our first “LIVE FROM SPLENDORA” podcast as the celebrated artist and musician, Dickie Landry, will treat the audience with a saxophone concert at 3:00 pm, followed by Bryan Wheeler interviewing Landry about his early work with Merce Cunningham and his time in New York during such a pivotal time in the History of art and music.
Come be a part of the continuing rebirth of Splendora Gardens and welcome in Spring with us. Please email Jeff F. Wheeler at Jeffrey_Wheeler@hotmail.com with any questions.
