Nicole Longnecker Gallery presents dual NEXT 2017, A Biennial of Contemporary Print to be held during PrintHOUSTON 2017, May 20 – July 1, 2017. There will be an artists’ reception on Saturday, May 20, from 5-8pm. NEXT 2017 showcases the juried works of United States artists. The works vary from lithography, relief, intaglio, monotype, to serigraphy. NEXT 2017, A Biennial of Contemporary Print is the major exhibition of PrintMatters, a biannual summer-long celebration of original prints, the artists who create them, and the people who collect them. “We are delighted to again host PrintMatter’s NEXT 2017,” said gallery owner Nicole Longnecker. “This exhibit brings exciting, edgy artwork from around the country for Houston collectors. This is a must for print collectors.” PrintMatters is a Houston-based arts organization whose mission is to promote traditional and non-traditional printmaking, encourage print collecting, and facilitate the professional growth of their members. The NEXT 2017 exhibition chair is Katherine Rhodes Fields, current President of PrintMatters. This year’s juror Nancy Palmeri is a Professor, MFA Director, and Assistant Chairperson of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Arlington. After an MFA from the University of Nebraska, she has enjoyed an outstanding career as an award-winning print artist who has exhibited across the US and in the world along with curating many exhibitions.
