Nicole Longnecker Gallery and Sarah Busch present Flowing Rhythm, an exhibition by two Houston abstract artists: Kassandra D’Alessandro and Arufa Rehman in the Main Gallery from September 9 to October 14, 2017. There will be an artists’ reception on Saturday, September 9, from 5-8pm.
With this exhibition, Flowing Rhythm, Nicole Longnecker Gallery features new work from two globally-influenced artists pushing the limits of their processes. Both artists offer large-scale, densely layered abstract paintings with aggressive brush strokes, textures, and brilliant colorations.
“I was very excited to be introduced to these artists by Sarah Busch,” said gallery owner Nicole Longnecker, “D’Alessandro and Rehman bring fresh, differing visions through their bright, rhythmic paintings and artistic expressions. I’m positive both will be very well received by Houston collectors.”
Sarah Busch curated the two-person exhibition stating, “Their work has been on my radar for the last few years now. You will find a sense of playfulness and action that dance out through line drawings in D’Alessandro’s Lost Series that is simply inviting. Both artists traverse between expressive movements and color field painting. Rehman’s work is an example of this in her Glacier Series, in which she uses layers of dripping and monochromatic color palettes to shed light on her spiritual calling to protect the earth.”
