Are you curious about the drum-inspired Pound® fitness craze, but not sure if it’s for you? Fort Bend County Libraries’ University Branch Library will present an introductory demonstration of the “Pound® Fitness Workout Program” on Saturday, June 10, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, in Meeting Room 1 of the library, located at 14010 University Blvd in Sugar Land, on the UH campus.
Marinela Taylor, a certified Pound® Pro group-fitness instructor, will present a basic introduction and demonstration of this popular cardio jam session inspired by the infectious, energizing fun of playing the drums. Pound fitness combines cardio, conditioning, and strength-training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements, using lightly-weighted drumsticks. It is designed for all fitness levels and appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities.
Taylor will demonstrate four different Pound positions and modifications and explain which muscles they work. Those attending this program should wear comfortable, workout clothes and sneakers, and should bring a bottle of water. The program is intended for older teens and adults.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call the University Branch Library at 281-633-5100 or the library system’s Public Information Office at 281-633-4734.
